Some rental sites say they will insure my trip if the rental is not as it is described. They say they will offer a refund up to a certain dollar amount. Isn’t that enough of a safe measure?

I am not sure how they will go about determining it is a misrepresented site. It may take quite some time and effort before you see your refund, if ever. Even if they do refund you the rental fee, you still ended up wasting precious vacation time or worse yet, having your special event ruined. This loss can never be refunded.

What about pictures of the vacation rental? Isn’t this just as good as seeing it in person?

For instance, the ocean view you see in the pictures might only be visible from a corner of the deck, the lovely flowers you see might be no match for the stale smoke smell pervading the room, the beautiful Egyptian cotton bed linens might be sadly of no use when the bed is a heap of lumps and bumps, and the peace and quiet you were promised might be disrupted by the new home construction next door!

What is the fee for this service?

Each request is individually quoted based on the specifics of the request. For example, a single site visit of a studio condo would entail much less time and investigation than a 4 bedroom home with pool and spa.
