Here's Why You End Up With the WRONG Vacation Rental

Here are a few of the many reasons why you might end up with the WRONG vacation rental:

The owner isn’t objective. It doesn’t mean they are intentionally being misleading. Consider that they are like a parent with a child- sometimes they just don’t see the condo for what it really is!
It might have been a lovely, clean, modern condo five years ago but after one thousand visitors, it is worn and dirty. It no longer looks at all like the photos posted on the sellers site.
With our current fragile economy, some rental owners/managers become desperate to fill their calendars and are not forthcoming about the details. Although they are not necessarily lying to you, they may be ‘dishonest by omission’ - such as forgetting to mention the highway is right next to your bedroom or the pest control problem they are having.
If you are checking out online travel sites with reviews posted, you’ll notice that the reviews are always varied (and maybe some are not authentic). These reviews can be very misleading. It’s true that one person’s paradise is another’s worst nightmare!
It is not the norm, but vacation rental scams do exist. The property you pay for might not even exist!
You might not know all the right questions to ask. Often you will think of the right questions after the fact: "Oh, I wish I had asked the actual distance to the beach when the landlord said it was ‘walking distance’. If I had, I wouldn’t be walking eight blocks uphill everyday!”
Sadly, on occasion, the folks responsible for the property are not customer service oriented and really don’t care about your happiness.
